Norma Ann O'Brien

Of Sanborn, NY, passed away on Sunday, May 26, 2024, at Mercy Hospital of Buffalo.  She was born in Middleport, NY, on June 27, 1935, the daughter of the late Lloyd and Ellen [Kaegebein] Harrington.

Mrs. O'Brien grew up on the family farm on Lower Mountain Road and graduated from Wilson High School in 1953.

She was employed with Dr. John Dowdall, DDS, George B. Edwards Plumbing and Acres American.

Mrs. O'Brien went back to college at Niagara County Community College and received her Nursing Degree from the University at Buffalo in 1992.  She then became a Registered Nurse  and enjoyed travel nursing for several years.  She attended Cleveland Clinic and specialized  in Wound and Ostomy Care with Catholic Health, until her retirement in 2011 at 76 years of age.

Mrs. O'Brien was an active member of Hope United Methodist Church and The Chapel.  She also did missionary work in Haiti and the Ukraine.

She enjoyed spending time with her family and was proud of taking banjo lessons into her 80's.

Mrs. O'Brien is survived by her children Jo Ann Ellen (Brent) Brewster, Kevin M. (Carol) O'Brien, Mary Beth O'Brien, Judy (Brian) DeVantier and Michelle E.N. (Robert) O'Brien-Foster, eight grandchildren John and Jared (Jennifer) Brewster, Brandon (Jodi), Torin and Skylar O'Brien, Trevor and Connor DeVantier  and Kaia Foster, her siblings the late Roger (Marjorie) Harrington, Janice (late Robert) Lasal, late Richard Harrington, Beth (late Roger) Knight, late Douglas Harrington, Ronald (Patricia) Harrington, late Mary Lou Krish, late Ellen (late Anthony) Previte,  Elaine (Lee) Seymour,  late Keith Schultz and Duane (Candace) Schultz, a brother-in-law Donald Krish, six great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.

She was the former wife of the late Michael J. O'Brien.

Our matriarch centered her life around Christ and family and will be greatly missed.

Her family will be present on Friday from 3-7 PM at the RHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 5893 Hoover Road, SANBORN, NY.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11:00 AM at Hope United Methodist Church, 2914 Upper Mountain Road, Sanborn, NY.
Interment in Mt. View Cemetery, Town of Cambria.
