Olive Janet (Mabon) Draper

Olive Janet (Mabon) Draper, 105, entered into eternal rest, Thursday, June 2, 2022.  A life long resident of Pekin, she was born on April 4, 1917 in Lewiston, NY,  the daughter of the late Harold and Myra (Trowbridge) Mabon.

Olive graduated from Niagara Falls High School in 1934.  She never worked outside of her home, spending her years taking care of her family as a homemaker.

She is the oldest, longest standing member of Hope United Methodist Church, Pekin, NY,  where she taught Sunday School, sang in the choir, attended Bible studies and helped with many church functions.

Olives interests and past times included reading, writing, poetry, sewing, cooking, baking and gardening.  She also enjoyed playing the piano, singing, studying her Bible, spending time with family and friends and going for car rides around the countryside.

Olive went to Elderwood Assisted Living shortly after her 100th birthday where she was incredibly loved by the staff.  While she was at Elderwood, she enjoyed the daily word games, musical entertainment and crafts as well as making new friends.  She enjoyed the company of family and friends who visited her, video chatting with family who live out of state,  looking at facebook and googling things she wanted to know more about.  Olive touched the lives of so many people in her 105 years, even those she never met in person who got to know her through the years on Facebook.  Olive was deeply loved, honored, cherished and respected by all who knew her.

Olive was the loving wife of 56 years, to the late Orin H. Draper, who passed away on September of 1993.

She is survived by two sons, David A. (Lynnette) Draper and Jon H. (Sharon) Draper, ten grand children; Patti, Todd, Christopher, Pamela, Peter, Liesel, Colin, Gretel, Timothy and Sarah,  seventeen great grandchildren, four great great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, as well as several other family members and life long friends.

She was the mother of the late Paul O. (Nance) Draper, sister of the late Dorothy (George) Ward, Marjorie (George) Church and  Stanley (Betty) Mabon.

Her family will be present on Saturday, June 25, 2022, from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at the RHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 5893 Hoover Road, SANBORN, NY, where her funeral service will be held on Sunday at 1:00 PM, with the Rev. Matthew Kofahl officiating.   There will be a Celebration of Life following her services at Hope United Methodist Church, 2914 Upper Mountain Road, Sanborn, NY 14132.

Interment will be held at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers,  donations may be made to Hope United Methodist Church.
