REGINA S. "AUNT JEAN" MCGRAW
Of Lewiston, NY, passed away on Saturday, April 1, 2023, at her home under the care of her family and Niagara Hospice. She was born in Port Chartier, Quebec on November 22, 1931, a daughter of the late Edward and Aurelia [Staley] McGraw.
Her family moved to Montreal when she was five, then to Niagara Falls, Ontario in 1947. After graduating from Loretto Academy in 1949, she attended Niagara University for two years, then transferred to Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, where she graduated in 1953. After working in Cleveland for two years, she returned to the University of Pittsburgh where she received her Master's Degree in Social Work.
Ms. McGraw was a social worker at West Penn Hospital for over ten years, before returning to Western New York and began working with Child & Family Services in Buffalo, for over 25 years before retiring in 1997.
She had traveled to Paris and other parts of Europe ten times over the years and enjoyed knitting hats for the City Mission.
Ms McGraw was the aunt of Peter S. (Janet Hogan) Battaglia II, Dr. Michael J. Battaglia, Susan M. Macguire, John B. (Laurie Strange) Battaglia, Dr. Samuel E. (Jennifer Kilroe-Smith) Battaglia, Edward J. (Deborah Perricelli) Battaglia, Barbara (Kutaiba) Tabbaa, Jeanne A. (Stephen) Dillon, Edward (Connie) McGraw, also many great nieces and nephews and dear friends.
She was the sister of the late Marie (Dr. Peter) Battaglia, Edward and James McGraw,
Her family will be present on Tuesday from 4-8 PM at the RHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 901 Cayuga Street, LEWISTON, NY. Everyone is invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday at 9:30 AM at St. Peter's Church, 620 Center Street, Lewiston, NY, with the Rev. Cole Webster officiating.
Memorials may be made in her name to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Dr, Lockport, NY 14094.
