Robert Kerns Obituary


Of  Sanborn, NY, passed away on  Friday, October 24, 2025, in the  Schoellkopf Health Center.  He was born in Franklin, PA on May 1, 1935, a son of the late Robert and Claribel [Clayton] Kerns.

Mr. Kerns graduated from both Wilson High School and Trott Vocational High School.

He served with the US Navy.

Mr. Kerns was employed at Kimberly Clarke before becoming a nuclear reactor operator with the University of Buffalo for 36 years.

He was a Ham radio operator, call name K2VNM and also built his own radios.

Mr. Kerns sang in barbershop quartets and directed various church choirs in the area over the years.  He was a Boy Scout leader and enjoyed fishing with his wife.

Mr. Kerns is survived by his wife of 70 years Marjorie  A. [Pettitt] Kerns, his children Robert (Diane) and William Kerns and Kathi (Dale) Taylor, five grandchildren Robert, William and Josh Kerns, Jennifer (Dan) Zack and Randy Taylor,  five great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren, also many nieces and nephews.

He was the brother of the late Curtis and Samuel Kerns.

His family will be present on  Tuesday from 3-7 PM at the RHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 5893 Hoover Road, SANBORN, NY, where funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 AM, with the Rev. Lyn Ende officiating.  

Interment  with Military Honors in Niagara Falls Memorial Park Cemetery.
