It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Rosa Sharon (Sutton) Margevich- Born August 17, 1937 died August 8, 2024 Lockport, New York. Daughter of Frank Albert Sutton and Freda (Hofert) Sutton.
Rosa was the last of her generation's family. Sister to Francis (Donna) Sutton, James (Joleen) Sutton, and Ethel (Milton) Kyle. Wife to Edward “Eddie” Margevich, and mother to Robert (Kay) Margevich, Martin (Martha) Margevich, Caroline (late Karl) Wagner and Douglas (Maureen) Margevich. Rosa was Grandmother to 12 , Great Grandmother to 8 and had many nieces and nephews.
Rosa graduated from Lockport Senior High School in 1954 and was involved with many school activities, Y-Teens, Choral Club, Intramurals and a cheerleader.
She met Eddie and was married in 1956 and built a home on Baer Rd in 1961 where she raised her children. Mom was abruptly widowed (1986) at a young age, and worked as a bookkeeper/accountant at Pyrofax Gas/Suburban Propane (23 yrs) as well as Relco Trucking (20 yrs) and learned to love taking care of her home where she maintained her lawn as well as her beautiful flower gardens.
Mom had many hobbies and activities which included golf, needlework, travel, bowling, reading, cooking and watching our beloved “Bills’ every Sunday, and she sent a morning email update to her children every day until the end. She played golf with her sons and grandsons, as well as many friends, and in her prime, was able to score in the low 80’s for 18 holes.
She was an active member at Chestnut Meadows Golf Club Women’s Club, Immaculate Conception Church-Altar and Rosary Society and Sanbornites where she developed lasting friendships. She lived in her home until the very end only because of the loving help and assistance of her dear friends and neighbors.
Visitation on Thursday August 15, from 4-8PM at RHONEY FUNERAL HOME 5893 Hoover Rd. SANBORN, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 10AM Immaculate Conception Church 4671 Townline Road, Ransomville, NY.
Interment in North Ridge Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials made to Niagara Hospice House, 4675 Sunset Dr., Lockport, NY 14094 (NiagaraHospice.org) would be appreciated by her family.
We would like to extend a special thank you to everyone at Hospice House (the Receptionists, Social Workers, Doctors, Nurses, Aids, Kitchen staff) for the love and kindness they shared with Rosa and her family. They are truly remarkable and compassionate, and made our final days with her peaceful and beautiful. The family is truly thankful for all these friendships to our mother.
