Shari E. Patterson-Hummel

Shari E. Patterson-Hummel of the Tuscarora Nation, passed away on Monday, June 6, 2022, at her residence.   A member of the White Bear Clan, she was born in Niagara Falls, NY, on December 23, 1962, the daughter of the late Leander "Doc" and Judith [Printup] Patterson, Sr.

Shari graduated from Niagara Wheatfield High School and Niagara County Community College. 

She was a travel agent and later became a receptionist at the Tuscarora Nation Health Center.

She loved sports and participated in gymnastics, swimming and softball at Niagara Wheatfield.   Shari enjoyed taking care of her lawn and beautful flower beds.   She was a member of the Tuscarora Baptist Church.

Shari was always involved with Tuscarora traditions, most notably the Temperance New Year's Feast.

She will be remembered always for her professionalism, kindness and willingness to help out her community and was well loved by all who knew her.

She is survived by her children Taylor Lee (fiancé Spencer Lone Fight) Hummel, Devon James Hummel and her "second son" Edwin John Patterson, a brother Leander (late Julie) Patterson, a sister Joy L. (Robert "Bear") Henry, also many nieces and nephews.

Shari was the sister of the late Robert E. Patterson.

Her family will be present on Wednesday from 6-8 PM at the RHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 5893 Hoover Road, SANBORN, NY. 

Funeral services will be held on Thursday at  10:00 AM at the Tuscarora Baptist Church, 2208 Mt. Hope Road, Sanborn, NY, with the Rev. Walter A. Printup officiating.

Interment in Mt. Hope Cemetery on the Tuscarora Nation.
