Sister M. Carmelette Komorowski, OSF (baptized Chesterine) of Stella Niagara, NY, passed away on October 29, 2022 at St. Mary's Hospital. Sister was born in Buffalo, NY, July 5, 1931, the daughter of the late Andrew and Frances (Dembska) Komorowski.
Sister Carmelette first entered the Felician Community in Buffalo, NY on October 4, 1949 and was professed there on August 11, 1952. She transferred to the Sisters of St. Francis at Stella Niagara in 1989.
She received her Bachelor's degree in Education in 1964 at Mt. St. Joseph Teachers College, Buffalo, NY; a Master's degree in Education at the State University of New York at Buffalo in 1971; and a Master's Specialist Certificate in Special Education in Canada, in 1974.
Sister Carmelette was a Home Care Aide at the Cantalician Center (1986), NYS Association for Retarded Children, Inc. (1986-1988), United Cerebral Palsy Association of Niagara County (1991-1992), Rivershore, Inc. (1992-1994), self-employed (1994-1995 and 1997-1998),the HART Agency (1993-1994), Heritage Agency for Handicapped Adults (1998-2003)in the Buffalo, NY area and Mt. Aloysius Home in New Lexington, Ohio (1990).
Sister Carmelette retired in 2007, and moved to the Stella Niagara Health Center in July 2020 where she enjoyed all the community activities, especially prayer and faith sharing...and working on puzzles.
Sister Carmelette is survived by nieces and nephews: John Dennis, Richard, Lawrence and Elizabeth Bogdan; Susan, Janet, Nancy, Robert, James and Lori Soper; Susan and Renee Signor; and David Como.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by siblings: Tadeusz (Teddy) Komorowski, Mary Bogdan (John), John Komorowski, Freda Soper (Robert), Richard Komorowski (Gloria), twin brother Chester Komorowski, Irene Signor (George H., Jr) ., and George H. Signor III.
A Celebration of Life will be held Tuesday, November 1, beginning at 6:30PM at Stella Niagara. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be on Wednesday, November 2 at 9:00AM.
Interment at Stella Niagara Cemetery.
