Sister M. Carmen Paris, OSF was born October 6, 1922 in Steubenville, Ohio. She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Tommosina (Gallo) Paris. Sister Carmen died on September 27, 2021 at Niagara Hospice House, at the age of 98.
Sister Carmen entered the Sisters of St. Francis at Stella Niagara on August 31, 1942 and was professed August 19, 1944.
Sister Carmen's principal ministry was as a domestic/housekeeper: 1944-45 at St. Vincent Orphanage, Columbus, Ohio; 1946 at Stella Niagara; 1946-63 at St. Vincent Orphanage, Columbus, Ohio; 1963-71 at Stella Niagara Cadet School; 1971-74 at Mt. St. Mary's (now Doctor's) Hospital, Nelsonville, Ohio; 1974-75 at St. Mary, Shawnee, Ohio; 1975-81 at Mt. Aloysius, New Lexington, Ohio; 1981-83 at St. Ann Hospital, Westerville, Ohio; 1983-89 at Columbus Nursing Home; and 1989-97 at Bristol House Nursing Home, Columbus, Ohio.
Sister Carmen retired in August 1997 and enjoyed living with the Sisters of St. Francis at St. Leo Convent, Columbus, Ohio. She moved to the Stella Niagara Health Center October 15, 2019.
Sister Carmen is survived by her brother Joseph Paris, her beloved niece, Linda Chandler, many other nieces and nephews, as well as her Stella Niagara Sisters.
She was predeceased by her stepmother, Antoinetta (Gallo) Paris, sisters: Sister Mary Edwin (Annie), OSF, Virginia Parisi, Vera Wellman, Gilda Paris, Lena Kevari, Rose Dicks, Mary Paris, and brothers: Michael, Herman, Benny, Anthony, Tommy, John and Thomas Paris.
Private services will be held at Stella Niagara.
Interment at St. Joseph Cemetery, Columbus, Ohio.
