Vincenette (Rangatore) Losasso

Mrs. Vincenette (Rangatore) Losasso of Lewiston, NY passed away on Saturday, April 15, 2023.  She was born to parents of Sicilian descent on January 30, 1928 in Niagara Falls, NY. 

She received her bachelor’s degree from Seton Hill University and her master’s degree in life sciences from Niagara University. She taught chemistry and physics for a number of years at Lewiston-Porter and Niagara Falls High schools.

On May 27, 1950, she married Dr. Guido D. Losasso.  They lived in Niagara Falls for several years before moving to a home they built in Lewiston in 1968.  They raised three children: Guido, Rochelle, and Mariette.

Vincenette was very devoted to her philanthropic endeavors, which included the Niagara County Dental Society, Niagara University, and the Multiple Sclerosis Society.

She loved opera, theater, poetry, high fashion, and playing bridge with her friends and family (especially when she was victorious), but most of all, she loved her family.  She was always impeccably dressed and was known as a very generous hostess. She was an excellent chef and baker; she loved spending time in the kitchen teaching her daughter and granddaughters the art of Italian cooking.

Vincenette was predeceased by her brother, Salvatore Rangatore, her daughter, Rochelle Losasso, her sister, Antoinette (Rangatore) Accardo, and her husband, Dr. Guido Losasso, to whom she was married for 68 years.

She is survived by her son, Guido (Kathy) Losasso, her daughter, Mariette (Dr. David Shapiro) Losasso, two granddaughters, Dr. Hannah (Rayne) Bachman and Dr. Sarah Shapiro, great-grandson, Maximilian Bachman, as well as several extended family members.

She was interred at Riverdale Cemetery in Lewiston, NY alongside her beloved husband, Guido and daughter, Rochelle.

Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial Mass in her honor on Saturday, June 17th at 9:30AM at St. Peter R.C. Parish on 620 Center Street, Lewiston NY.
