Michael G. Hayes

Of Lewiston, NY, passed away on Thursday, May 14, 2026, after a brief illness.  He was born in Dunkirk, NY, on May 17, 1940, a son of the late William and Adeline [Devlin] Hayes.

Mike was a graduate of both Cardinal Mindszenty High School and Niagara University.

He was a math teacher with the Frewsburg School System before becoming a computer programmer with Moore Business Forms, for over 13 years.  Mike later became a computer consultant for various businesses in the area.

He was an avid Chess player, proud of his Irish heritage and enjoyed reading and being a Bills and Sabres fan.

Mike is survived by his wife of 62 years Karen L. [Jacob] Hayes, three daughters Susan (Michael) Caballero, Kelly Marotta and Maureen (Joseph) Rizzo, seven grandchildren Maureen (John) Magers, Stefanie Stanton, Lillian Marotta, Madeline (Richard) Minicucci, James Marotta, Jacob and Olivia Rizzo, two great grandchildren Jack and George, also many nieces and nephews.

He was the brother of the late Mary (Kenneth) Schultz.

Everyone is invited to attend his Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, May 19, 2026 at 10:00 AM in the Niagara University Alumni Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
