OSCAR M. "MIKE" WOLF
Of Sanborn, passed away unexpectedly on March 4, 2023 after a brief illness. He was born in Niagara Falls, NY, on September 28, 1931, a son of the late Otto and Sophia [Schiesser] Wolf.
After graduating from Niagara Falls High School in 1950, Mike worked briefly at Kimberly Clark before serving as a first-class airman in the U.S. Air Force. Following his honorable discharge in 1952, he worked as a journeyman carpenter on several local projects before starting his own general contracting company. For over 40 years, he built custom homes and supported commercial projects around the area.
Mike was a strong advocate for people with developmental disabilities and a huge supporter of Heritage Christian Service (HCS). As a founding member of F.A.I.T.H Foundation, he and his first wife Anne inspired HCS to establish its first home in WNY. After Anne’s passing in 1995, their family home on Hoover Road was transferred to HCS and began to serve people with disabilities, including their daughter Melissa.
A former member of the Sanborn Lions Club, Mike also served as both a trustee and deacon at Niagara Community Church and later attended Whitehaven Road Baptist Church.
Mike continued to enjoy woodworking projects in retirement as well as spending time with his family. His love for Christ and his family was his legacy.
He was the husband of 21 years to Susan [Fiegel Smith] Wolf and the late Nellianne (Rapson) Wolf for 40 years, he is survived by his children Cynthia (Allan) Lepine and Scott (Bonnie) Wolf, step-children, Scott (Vicky) Smith, Linda (David) Grant and Becky (Kevin) Weber, 12 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, a brother, Ernest Wolf, also several nieces and nephews.
He was the father of the late Michael and Melissa Wolf.
His family will be present on Saturday from 10-11 AM , at Hope United Methodist Church, 2914 Upper Mountain Rd, Sanborn, where a memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM.
