Gene Frazier...what a great person! I've known Gene for about 17 years, first meeting him as he tended the coffee counter at the Wilson Farm at 4th & Niagara St. He was such a friendly guy that stopping to see Gene soon became part of the morning routine for my co-worker Ted Lewis and I. I soon began to see Gene at Tops or Rite Aid or walking to one place or another where I'd stop and visit for a while and give him a ride if he needed one. We'd also meet for coffee at Starbucks or breakfast at the WHY and of course our annual Christmas get-togethers covered by Ted in his comments.
He was a fine man! ...and I don't know of another person who knew the price of groceries so well- right down to the PENNY, and the day and dates of upcoming and past holidays. His mind was sharp right to the end!
I think his landlord and the owner of The Jefferson, the apartment building where Gene lived, said it best when he told me "I wish I had a hundred Mr. Fraziers living at The Jefferson".
I'm sure going to miss my best buddy Gene!
