Of the Town of Niagara, passed away on Monday, January 15, 2018, in Northgate Health Care Facility, Town of Wheatfield, NY. She was born in Niagara Falls, NY on October 25, 1937, a daughter of the late George and Barbara [Stronach] Lawson.

Mrs. Powell attended Nevada Avenue School and graduated from Niagara Falls High School in 1956.

She was employed at Niesner's in Niagara Falls, the Niagara Falls Air Force Base during the Vietnam War and later with Harrison Radiator in Lockport for 27 years, before retiring in 1999. After retiring she became involved with the Town of Niagara Senior Lunch Program.

Mrs. Powell was a active member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church, serving on the Altar Guild and as a Sunday school teacher. She was the secretary for the MacKenzie Highlanders and a member of the UAW Retiree's and the Retiree's Travel Club, she enjoyed traveling and going to the Casino.

Mrs. Powell was the wife of the late Braxton C. "AL" Powell, who passed away in November of 1994. She is survived by her children Raymond Powell and Elaine M. Clark, her grandson Brian Clark and many nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Powell was the sister of the late William, Alexander and Robert Lawson.

Her family will be present on Thursday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the RHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 1124 Ontario Avenue, NIAGARA FALLS, NY.

Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11:00 AM at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 140 Rainbow Blvd., Niagara Falls, NY, with the Rev. Karen Hardy officiating.

Memorials may be made in her name to the Niagara County SPCA, 2100 Lockport Road, Niagara Falls, NY  14304

Interment in Riverdale Cemetery, Lewiston, NY.
