of Lewiston, NY, passed away on Thursday, January 4, 2018 at his residence. He was born in Salamanca, NY on September 29, 1935, the son of the late Ardell and Ruth (Stoddard) Ball.
Mr. Ball graduated from Salamanca High School and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, where he played basketball with his unit. After the war, he moved to Niagara Falls where he became a Security Investigator with the New York Telephone Company, until retiring in 1989.
He was long time active and exempt member of the Upper Mt. Volunteer Fire Company and served for several years as President of the Niagara Amateur Hockey League, he was also instrumental in the organization and start-up of Lew-Port Club Hockey where he was General Manager for 6 years and was the President of Western New York High School Club Hockey League for multiple years.
Mr. Ball was a great supporter of his son and grandsons sporting events. He was an avid sportsman and enjoyed spending time at his camp and on hunting trips.
He was a member of the Lewiston Jaycees, and a fan of the Bills and Sabres.
Mr. Ball will be remembered as the family organizer.
He is survived by his wife Evelyn "Mary" [Berthot] Ball, a son Tim (Jackie) Ball, two grandsons Cullen and Ryan Ball, also many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, May 26, 2018 at 11:00 AM at St. Peter's Church, 620 Center Street, Lewiston, NY.
Mr. Ball donated his body to the University of Buffalo Anatomical Gift Program.
